Americans sitzen-- literally the very - in more sedentary jobs, they are packing on the pounds, and it is this inertia, which is a major role in the obesity epidemic, suggests new research.
Staring at the computer for hours instead of the fields hacking means that burning Americans 120 to 140 of less calories per day than they are 50 years ago did.
To promote any kind of physical activity to even greater emphasis in the war on weight, according to a study in the May 23 online issue of the journal PLoS ONE.
"It's all about calories in and calories out, and we put more calories in, as, we take", said Dr. Robert Graham, primary care physician, Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
A tilt in calories in direction led adults to two-thirds of U.S. now overweight or obese.
Although both eating habits and exercise in relation to the obesity epidemic have studied, said the researchers, from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La., much of the blame for the additional Pound package has put on calorie intake.
This is because the amount of leisure time physical activity not really changed over the years.
But whats with the physical requirements of work, where so many people spend most of their guards hours?
These researchers cross references US Bureau of labor statistics on the prevalence of various tasks with a large national database that contains information about the body weight.
Fifty years ago, about half of private industry involved a type of physical activity, such as agriculture, mining, construction and manufacturing jobs in the United States. Today, this number is less than 20 percent, thanks to the dominance of jobs in the retail, education and the economy.
The authors of an estimated 100 fewer calories go every day in a weight gain in accordance with the, would result in what has seen the U.S. population since 1960.
Still, if Americans (activity strong 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity exercise or 75 minutes) followed federal guidelines for physical activity, additional calories would offset was have.

Goose recommends that people at work, move even if they have what amounts to a desk job. This could mean the stairs if you can walk through a co-worker desk if you can and go for a walk in the afternoon. And if your company have a gym or exercise program, by all means, take part.
