Rockford weight loss doctor by federal grand jury - WREX-TV indicted

UNDATED (WREX) - a Rockford doctor due to ripping off the Government and insurance companies is by a federal grand jury indicted.

Dr. Guatam Gupta, 56 of Rockford and Dr. Rakesh Wahi, are 57 mount prospect named in the indictment.  It says that Gupta worked clinics in Rockford, South Beloit, Naperville, Arlington Heights and Chicago and Wahi diet they owned.  The clinics are claims for weight loss and the indictment, from 2003 through at least January 2010 Gupta and Wahi enforced, policies and procedures at the clinics which are financially benefited.  Also, it says that they fake payment receivables insurance companies and Medicaid submitted.

Wahi will appear likely to August 15 magistrate judge in Springfield before US.  Gupta is still on the run.

The indictment, returned by the big jury late Wednesday afternoon, rises with an unprovoked Gupta and Wahi conspiracy to commit fraud and seven counts of mail fraud.  Each is also separately be charged with a count of health care fraud.
